Coach requirements
* New for 2025 * You now need your HCR number to be able to complete the respect in sport course. If you have played or coached Rec or Minor hockey before this year, you would have one of these (even if it was 20+ years ago!), and if you do not know it, please send our registrar your full name and DOB and we can look it up for you. If you have never played or coached Rec or Minor before, you will need to open a Spordle account first:

All Coaches, including Assistant Coaches over the age of 18, must provide a Vulnerable Sector background Check and are also required to take the Coaches Respect in Sport. You will not be permitted to take the ice until these are received.

Last but not least, for insurance coverage, all coaches must also register in our RAMP system as staff:

Minimum one coach per bench must have the Safety Course. There is a $47 fee for the Safety Program, which Didsbury Rec Hockey will reimburse upon completion.
